BMW the Next 100 – Barker Hangar (Santa Monica, CA)

This event was a pretty spectacular showcase of what the BMW Group currently has to offer as well as conceptualizing what is to come for the next 100 years.  The location was the Barker Hangar, which provided a pretty ideal location for some hands-on driving with their vehicles around the Santa Monica airport as well as showcasing some concept vehicle designs inside.

The vehicles inside weren’t going anywhere, so I decided to test drive the BMW i8 outside.  This car is amazing.  The acceleration was immediate, the technology evident, and the sound was sheer bliss.  If only I had a larger area to floor it, or at least one without stop signs and street lights.  Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
